Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Has a Phone Call with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji

On July 9, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu had a phone call with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji at the request of the latter.

Miao Deyu stated that China is closely following the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region and is deeply concerned over the recent developments concerning the Strait of Hormuz. China hopes that relevant parties will cherish the hard-won outcomes of the peace talks, maintain the ceasefire situation, and prevent the region from descending into the flames of war once again. China appreciates Saudi Arabia for maintaining calm and restraint, supports upholding the spirit of the Beijing Agreement, and stands ready to work with Saudi Arabia to make active efforts toward restoring peace and tranquility in the region at an early date.

Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji briefed Miao Deyu on Saudi Arabia's position on the latest developments in the regional situation, appreciated China's important role in upholding peace and stability in the region and the wider world, and expressed readiness to enhance communication and coordination with China to facilitate the restoration of normal and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.
