On 14 May 2026, the Government of The Bahamas held a swearing-in ceremony at Government House, where the Most Hon. Cynthia Pratt, Governor-General of The Bahamas witnessed Prime Minister-elect Philip Davis take the oath of office. More than 400 guests attended the event, including newly elected members of the House of Assembly, representatives of the military and police, former political leaders, members of various sectors of society, and members of the diplomatic corps in The Bahamas. Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Yan Jiarong attended the ceremony upon invitation and extended congratulations to Prime Minister Philip Davis.

On 12 May, The Bahamas held its general election, in which the Progressive Liberal Party led by Prime Minister Davis secured victory. Philip Davis became the first Bahamian prime minister since 1997 to win re-election for a consecutive term.
