On October 19, 2026, Acting Consul General Zhang Jianxin visited the Global Civilization Initiative Research Center-Iraq and held meeting with the Center’s Chairman Dr. Kawa Mahmoud, Executive Director Mr. Nabaz Mustafa and other members of the Center’s team.

Zhang said that, as regional conflicts continue to drag on, exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations are taking on ever greater significance. As the first Global Civilization Initiative Research Center in the Middle East, the Center has actively carried out its work since its establishment, making important contributions to promoting the exchange of ideas and fostering mutual understanding between peoples. We hope that the Center will fully leverage its unique strengths, and stand ready to work together with the Center to put the Global Civilization Initiative into practice and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

Dr. Kawa spoke highly of the four major global initiativesand other important ideas and principles put forward by PresidentXi Jinping. He briefed the on the Center’s recent work and future plans, expressing the Center’s willingness to further strengthen exchanges of experience and academic cooperation with China and jointly advance mutual learning among civilizations.
