On October 7, 2025, the seventh meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan was held in Moscow. Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong attended the meeting as the representative of China upon invitation. During his stay in Moscow, Yue Xiaoyong met with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, participated in the meeting of the Special Representatives of China, Russia, Pakistan and Iran on Afghanistan, engaged extensively with representatives from various parties, and gave interviews to media outlets, including Russia's Sputnik.
