On June 20, 2023, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun met with Syrian Ambassador to China Mhd. Hasanein Khaddam at the latter's request. The two sides exchanged views on China-Syria relations and regional issues of mutual interest and concern. Mhd. Hasanein Khaddam highly appreciated China for playing a constructive role in promoting regional countries to improve relations and seek strength through unity.
