Zhao Leji Meets with President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini

On the afternoon of July 29, 2026, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini in Beijing.

Zhao Leji said that yesterday, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Peter Pellegrini, jointly charting the blueprint for the future development of China-Slovakia relations. China stands ready to work with Slovakia, with the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state as guidance, to continuously enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, trade and economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy, promote greater mutual understanding between the peoples, and work together to advance the high-level development of China-Slovakia relations. The NPC of China is ready to maintain close and friendly exchanges with the National Council of the Slovak Republic, conduct exchanges on experience in legislative and oversight work, and provide legal support for practical cooperation between the two countries.

President Peter Pellegrini said that Slovakia and China uphold mutual respect, sovereign equality and continued dialogue, which have laid a foundation for the long-term sound development of Slovakia-China relations. Slovakia stands ready to enhance exchanges between legislative bodies with China, increase mutual understanding, deepen mutual trust, and expand cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence.
