Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Uruguayan Ambassador to China and Dean of LAC Diplomatic Corps in China Fernando Lugris

On March 17, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Uruguayan Ambassador to China and Dean of the diplomatic corps of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) States in China Fernando Lugris at the latter's request. Miao Deyu said that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Uruguay and China-LAC relations and is ready to work with the new Uruguayan government to jointly promote the continuous and in-depth development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uruguay. Miao Deyu expressed the hope that the LAC diplomatic corps in China will continue to contribute to the friendly cooperation between China and LAC.

Fernando Lugris warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and spoke highly of China's development achievements and its positive impact on the world. He thanked President Xi Jinping for sending a special envoy to attend President Yamandú Orsi's inauguration, and said that Uruguay has always attached great importance to its relations with China, and believes that Uruguay-China relations will usher in greater development. The LAC diplomatic corps in China is willing to continue to promote the in-depth development of friendly cooperation between LAC and China.
