Li Keqiang Meets with General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and President Bounnhang Vorachith of Laos

On the afternoon of September 8, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President Bounnhang Vorachith of Laos.

Li Keqiang firstly conveyed warm greetings from General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping to Bounnhang Vorachith. Li Keqiang expressed that China and Laos always support and respect each other and treat each other as equals. China wishes Laos to constantly score greater achievements in the cause of reform. China is ready to, together with Laos, consolidate traditional friendship, strengthen high-level exchanges and experiences exchanges on state governance and administration and deepen practical cooperation so as to promote the long-term, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Laos face new opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation. China is willing to work with Laos to deepen the integration of interests, intensify cooperation in various fields, particularly in production capacity and investment, and make steady progress in China-Laos railway, economic zone, hydropower development and other large-scale project construction so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Both sides should jointly ensure the success of the series of activities marking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-Laos diplomatic relationship in a bid to step up exchanges and cooperation in such fields as education, tourism and local affairs.

Bounnhang Vorachith said Premier Li Keqiang's visit this time will inject new impetus into further consolidating the traditional friendship and promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. Laos and China enjoy profound traditional friendship, maintain close exchanges at all levels, and enjoy smooth cooperation in economy, people-to-people and cultural engagement, national defense and other areas. Key cooperation projects in such fields as railway and aerospace between the two countries are of historic significance. Laos appreciates China's valuable support in hosting the successful series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia cooperation. In accordance with the "four-good spirit", Laos is willing to promote the further development of Laos-China comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
