On November 18, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Lima for his attendance at the 24th APEC Economic Leaders' Summit as well as his state visit to the Republic of Peru.

At around 6: 20 p.m., President Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at the Las Palmas Air Base in Lima. Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan were warmly welcomed by Vice President Mercedes Araoz of Peru and others. The honor guard lined up on both sides of the red carpet.

Xi Jinping extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to the Peruvian people. He pointed out that Peru is an important country in Latin America and it has a long-standing history and splendid culture. People of China and Peru share profound traditional friendship. Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship 45 years ago, China and Peru have always adhered to the principle of equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect when pushing forward bilateral relations. At present, China-Peru relations maintain a sound momentum of development and share broad prospects of cooperation. My visit this time is to enhance friendship, expand consensus, deepen cooperation and boost development. China supports Peru in hosting the 24th APEC Economic Leaders' Summit and I'm looking forward to exchanging in-depth views with Peruvian leaders on bilateral relations and major international and regional issues of common concern. It is believed that this visit will be a complete success.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Leung Chun-ying, who arrived earlier for the 24th APEC Economic Leaders' Summit, and H.E. Jia Guide, Chinese Ambassador to Peru, also greeted them at the airport.

Xi Jinping arrived in Peru after concluding his state visit to Ecuador. Before leaving Ecuador, Xi Jinping attended the grand seeing-off ceremony held by President Rafael Correa of Ecuador. The two heads of state bade farewell to each other in a friendly manner beside the ramp. The honor guard lined up on both sides of the red carpet.
