Xi Jinping Meets with President Tran Dai Quang of Viet Nam

On November 19, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Lima with President Tran Dai Quang of Viet Nam.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Viet Nam are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and share broad common interests. Both sides should firmly hold the correct development direction of bilateral relations, well implement consensus reached by high level officials and well carry out projects which have already been agreed on, so as to push for the sustained, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations and benefit the two peoples. Under the new circumstances, the two countries should maintain high-level exchanges, communicate with each other on bilateral relations and topics of common concern in time, make good use of existing cooperation mechanisms, constantly elevate the quality and level of practical cooperation, accelerate the building of cross-border economic cooperation zones and infrastructure cooperation projects and push for early harvest from production capacity cooperation. We should resolve disputes through bilateral consultation and dialogues, adhere to a cooperation path of shelving differences and engaging in joint development, properly handle problems and maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Xi Jinping pointed out that under current situation, all APEC members should make joint efforts in promoting long-lasting prosperity in Asia-Pacific and safeguarding the region's role as an engine for global growth. China supports Viet Nam in serving as the host country of the APEC next year, and is willing to, together with Viet Nam, well host next year's meeting and lay a sound foundation for APEC cooperation in the future.

Tran Dai Quang said that the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) and the Vietnamese government are firmly devoted to developing Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. It is glad to see that at present, under the concerted efforts of both sides, the two countries have maintained rapid development in bilateral relations, consolidated traditional friendship and achieved positive effect from cooperation in various fields, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. The CPV Central Committee congratulates on the success of the sixth plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the great achievements China has scored in the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The CPV and the Vietnamese government are willing to maintain close high-level contact and make joint efforts with the CPC and the Chinese government to push for the continuous development of bilateral relations on a stable and sustainable track.
