On June 23, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Tashkent with President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that attaching great importance to developing bilateral relations, China is ready to make joint efforts with Turkmenistan to comprehensively elevate the level of cooperation in various fields and enrich the connotation of China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership.

Xi Jinping stressed that energy cooperation is an important component of China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership. It is conducive to economic and social development for both nations to well carry out and expand energy cooperation. While Chinese enterprises are conducting business in Turkmenistan, they also actively participate in programs for public good and give back to the local people. China appreciates Turkmenistan's active support for and participation in the "Belt and Road" construction and welcomes its measures to improve the conditions of regional transport infrastructure and promote the efficiency of logistics transportation. China is willing to encourage Chinese companies to actively participate in relevant cooperation.

China is willing to conduct research in the launch of bilateral production capacity cooperation with Turkmenistan, and continuously discuss agricultural cooperation. Both sides need to conduct close people-to-people and cultural cooperation. I am glad to learn that Turkmenistan is going to offer Chinese language courses in primary and secondary schools.

Both sides should strengthen cooperation in law-enforcement and security, sternly crack down on the "three evil forces", and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov expressed that the development of Turkmenistan-China strategic partnership enjoys solid political and public foundations.

Turkmenistan stands ready to intensify exchanges between the two governments, parliaments and in non-governmental areas, deepen cooperation in economy, trade, energy, transport, logistics, communication, high-technology, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and international affairs, and take an active part in the "Belt and Road" construction. Turkmenistan adheres to the One-China policy and appreciates China's support for Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality policy.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
