On May 14, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with outgoing Ambassador of Sudan to China and newly appointed Foreign Minister Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddig in Beijing.

Wang Yi congratulated Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddig on his appointment as Foreign Minister of Sudan, and expressed appreciation for his contributions to promoting the development of China-Sudan relations during his tenure as Ambassador to China. Wang Yi stated that the people of China and Sudan are good friends and brothers who support each other through thick and thin. In September last year, President Xi Jinping and Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan held a fruitful meeting that charted the course for the development of bilateral relations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Sudan strategic partnership. Both sides should deliver on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state and work for the sustained and fruitful outcomes of bilateral relations for the benefit of the two peoples. China firmly supports Sudan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, supports its efforts to achieve peace, stability and development at an early date, and will continue to provide humanitarian assistance and help to the best of its ability.

Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddig said that Sudan and China enjoy a profound friendship and a solid foundation for bilateral relations. Sudan appreciates China's long-standing valuable support and humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people, as well as its efforts to speak up for Sudan on the international stage. Sudan regards China as its most important partner and trustworthy friend, and prioritizes Sudan-China cooperation. Sudan will continue to firmly support China in defending its core interests, safeguarding territorial integrity, and achieving national reunification. Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddig said that as the newly appointed foreign minister, he will continue sparing no effort to advance the development of the Sudan-China strategic partnership and jointly implement the series of important global initiatives put forth by President Xi Jinping. Sudan attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese citizens in Sudan and will take active measures to ensure their safety.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on the domestic situation in Sudan and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Africa as well as between China and Arab states.
