On August 14, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn, who is in China to attend the tenth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting, in Anning, Yunnan.

Wang Yi stated that China and Cambodia are ironclad friends and an all-weather community with a shared future, always supporting each other and standing together through challenges. In April this year, President Xi Jinping paid a historic state visit to Cambodia. The leaders of both countries jointly led the upgrading of China-Cambodia relations and drew up a blueprint for the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. China supports Cambodia in maintaining political stability, promoting economic development, and improving people's livelihoods. China is ready to work with Cambodia to leverage the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, enrich the "Diamond Hexagon" cooperation framework, promote the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor" to yield more tangible results, bring more benefits to the Cambodian people through China-Cambodia cooperation, and contribute to regional development and prosperity.

Wang Yi noted that the world today, fraught with changes and turbulence, needs peace and tranquility. It is of great significance for the Lancang-Mekong countries to hold the Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Anning(meaning peace and tranquility in Chinese), China, to discuss development plans, call for peace, and build consensus on peace. China appreciates Cambodia's campaign to crack down on online gambling and telecom fraud, and hopes that Cambodia will continue to take strong measures and work with regional countries to combat cross-border criminal activities.

Prak Sokhonn stated that Cambodia and China are an all-weather community with a shared future, maintaining close high-level exchanges. President Xi Jinping's visit to Cambodia was a complete success, marking a milestone and propelling bilateral relations to a new level. Cambodia attaches great importance to its relations with China, appreciates China's selfless support and assistance, and looks forward to enhancing cooperation and achieving more cooperation results. China plays a constructive role in international and regional affairs and is a symbol of peace and development. The Belt and Road Initiative and the three major global initiatives have achieved remarkable results from concept to action. Anning symbolizes peace and tranquility. Cambodia is willing to fully support and participate in the meeting and hopes that the Foreign Ministers' Meeting will accelerate the development of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and promote regional prosperity and stability.

Wang Yi said that both Cambodia and Thailand are China's good neighbors and friends, and China hopes that the two sides will strengthen contacts and exchanges to restore friendship and mutual trust. China believes that the parties concerned can properly resolve differences through dialogue and consultation, and supports ASEAN in playing an active role in this regard to uphold ASEAN's solidarity. Prak Sokhonn briefed on the update of Cambodia-Thailand relations, and expressed appreciation for China's active efforts in promoting talks for peace and helping de-escalate tensions.
