On September 3, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who is in China for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Wang Yi welcomed Péter Szijjártó, who represented the Hungarian government, to China to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. He said that 80 years ago, China, as the principal theater in Asia, made great national sacrifices and significant historical contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. China's grand commemoration today aims to remember history and create a better future. Only if all countries learn from history and cherish peace can the long-term peace and stability of the world be maintained.

Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Hungary have carried forward traditional friendship and deepened practical cooperation, and bilateral relations are at their best in history. China is ready to work with Hungary to enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and continuously enrich the China-Hungary all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era. The successful cooperation between China and Hungary demonstrates that China and Europe are partners instead of rivals and can fully learn from each other and achieve mutual success. The spirit of mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation embodied in China-Hungary friendship sets an example for China and Europe to deepen mutual trust and expand cooperation. Wang Yi expressed the hope that Hungary will continue to play a constructive role in encouraging Europe to establish a rational perception of China and pursue a positive policy toward China.

Wang Yi said that the current international landscape is undergoing changes and turbulence, and the deficit in global governance is acute. At the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" Meeting, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Governance Initiative. It is another important public good provided by President Xi Jinping to the world, following the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. It is timely and has been widely welcomed by all parties. China is ready to work with the international community, including Hungary, to act on multilateralism and promote a more just and equitable global governance system.

Péter Szijjártó said that he was pleased to come to China to jointly commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War with the Chinese people. Hungary highly appreciates that China has consistently stood on the side of peace and played a key role in promoting world peace and stability. China is Hungary's most important partner, and Hungary is greatly satisfied with the bilateral cooperation and looks forward to further deepening relations with China. The Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is inspiring, and Hungary attaches great importance to it. Hungary is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation with China in this regard and promote the peaceful resolution of international disputes. Europe-China cooperation brings about opportunities rather than risks, and regarding China as a systemic rival is the biggest misjudgment. Hungary firmly supports the development of Europe-China relations and is willing to play a constructive role in this regard.
