On September 28, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Choe Son Hui in Beijing.

Wang Yi stated that China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors that are connected by mountains and rivers. The traditional friendship personally forged and carefully nurtured by the elder generations of the leaders of the two Parties and two countries is a valuable asset shared by both sides. Maintaining, consolidating and developing China-DPRK relations has always been a steadfast strategic guideline of the CPC and the Chinese government. Earlier this month, General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un held a historic meeting and reached important common understandings, pointing the way forward and mapping out the blueprint for the development of China-DPRK relations. Wang Yi noted that the duty of both sides is to implement the important common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, enhance strategic communication, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, better improve the well-being of the two peoples, and jointly promote regional peace and development.

Wang Yi briefed on the domestic situation in China, stating that China is working to build itself into a great country on all fronts and to realize great national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization. China and the DPRK are both socialist countries led by communist parties, having common ideals, convictions and aspirations. The two sides can enhance exchanges of governance experience to promote the development of their respective socialist causes.

Wang Yi said that the current international landscape is marked by changes and turbulence, and power politics and bullying acts cause grave harm. China appreciates the DPRK's firm support for China's core interests and major concerns, as well as its backing of the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative put forth by General Secretary Xi Jinping. China is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the DPRK in international and regional affairs, oppose all forms of hegemonism, and safeguard the common interests of both sides and international fairness and justice.

Choe Son Hui said that the recent commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War has fully demonstrated China's historic contribution, composite national strength and international standing. The historic meeting held by the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries has provided strategic guidance and strong impetus to deepen the DPRK-China relationship centered on socialism. General Secretary Kim Jong Un noted that no matter how the world may change, the friendly sentiments between the peoples of the DPRK and China will not change. To further deepen and grow the DPRK-China relationship is a steadfast position of the DPRK. The DPRK side is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, enhance strategic communication, increase friendly exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and promote the development of DPRK-China relations to a new and higher level. The vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the series of global initiatives championed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, especially the latest Global Governance Initiative, are important contributions made by China to promoting a multipolar world. The DPRK actively supports the vision and global initiatives, and is willing to closely cooperate with China in multilateral affairs, jointly resist unilateralism and power politics, and promote a fairer and more just world order. The DPRK wishes the Chinese people greater achievements through unity and hard work under the leadership of the CPC.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
