Wang Yi Meets with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand

On April 8, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand.

Wang Yi noted that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand in 2025, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua paid his first state visit to China. During the visit, President Xi Jinping and King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua reached important common understandings on advancing the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future, charting the course for deepening China-Thailand friendship.

Wang Yi said that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has made 57 visits across China over the past 45 years. She is a witness to China’s reform and opening up, a firsthand observer of Chinese modernization, and a doer in advancing China-Thailand friendship. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, as a good and old friend of the Chinese people, has made tremendous efforts and outstanding contributions to deepening China-Thailand friendship. President Xi Jinping has conferred on Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn the Friendship Medal in recognition of her dedication. This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period. China stands ready to work with Thailand to follow the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state as the fundamental guidance, carry forward the traditional China-Thailand friendship, and strengthen cooperation with Thailand in such areas as high-tech, education and people’s livelihood, which are close to Her Royal Highness’s heart. China will continue to sow the seeds of friendship, and ensure that the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future yields fruitful outcomes for the benefit of the two peoples.

Sirindhorn noted that China is a good friend of Thailand. Thailand appreciates China’s strong support in areas such as talent development and human resources. During this visit, she toured high-tech programs of interest and found the experience highly rewarding. She expressed the hope to further enhance communication and exchanges with China in various fields, strengthen practical cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, medicine, culture and education, promote mutual understanding and affinity between the two peoples, and ensure the sustained and robust growth of Thailand-China friendship.
