On February 11, 2023, Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs met with visiting Advisor to Nicaraguan President on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation and Coordinator for Cooperation with China Laureano Ortega Murillo.

Qiu Xiaoqi spoke highly of the positive achievements in the development of bilateral relations after the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua, saying that China is ready to work with Nicaragua to deepen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core and major concerns, and constantly take China-Nicaragua relations to new levels.

Laureano said the resumption of diplomatic relations between Nicaragua and China is a right decision that accords with the historical trend and serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples. Nicaragua is willing and ready to be China's trustworthy good brother and partner and contribute to the continuous upgrading of bilateral relations.
