On September 12, 2023, President Xi Jinping replied to a letter from Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation Jeffrey Greene and Flying Tigers veterans Harry Moyer and Mel McMullen.

Xi Jinping said that he is glad to learn that the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation and the Flying Tigers veterans have been relentlessly promoting the story of the Flying Tigers in both China and the United States, an increasing number of American youth have participated in the "Flying Tigers Friendship Schools and Youth Leadership Programs", and to date, nearly 500 Flying Tigers veterans and hundreds of their family members have visited China. Xi Jinping showed respect to them.

Xi Jinping emphasized that looking back at the past, the people of China and the United States stood together in the fight against Japanese fascism, endured the test of blood and fire, and forged a profound friendship. Looking ahead, as two major countries, China and the United States bear even more important responsibilities for world peace, stability and development. The two countries should and must achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation. The hope and foundation of China-U.S. relations lies in the people and the future in the youth. The sound and stable development of China-U.S. relations in the new era needs the participation and support of the Flying Tigers in the new era. Xi Jinping hopes that the spirit of the Flying Tigers will be carried on from generation to generation between the two peoples.
