The 2019 Consultation on International Law Between Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Department of State of the United States (US) Held in Washington, D.C.

On October 25, 2019, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Foreign Ministry Jia Guide and Acting Legal Adviser of the Department of State Marik String of the United States (US) held the 2019 consultation on international law in Washington, D.C. Focusing on topics of common interest such as the legal work of the United Nations, maritime law, international law on cyberspace and extraterritorial application of domestic laws, the two sides briefed each other on the positions and practice of respective countries, and had an in-depth and candid exchange of views.

Both sides agreed to continue maintaining communication on important issues of international law through international law consultation mechanism so as to make contributions to promoting the development of China-US relations from the perspective of law. Both sides agreed to hold next round of consultation in China next year.
