On November 23, 2019, Vice President Wang Qishan met with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger of the United States (US) at Zhongnanhai.

Wang Qishan said, China-US relations have impact on the world. The two countries, with many more similarities than differences, will benefit from cooperation and harm each other in confrontation. Cooperation is the only right choice for both sides. Both sides are supposed to respect each other, enhance understanding and seek common ground while reserving differences. History, reality and future are closely linked. The two countries should follow the direction and the principles set by President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump in their meetings, and consider and handle a series of major strategic issues in bilateral relations with a broader vision and a longer-term perspective in an objective and reasonable manner. Both countries should stay focused, overcome the difficulties and face up to the challenges so as to jointly promote China-US relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability.

Henry Kissinger said, broad minds as well as historical and philosophical thinking are needed when viewing and dealing with US-China relations. Calling dialogue and communication the basis of US-China relations, Henry Kissinger hopes both sides will do their best to bring innovative and positive results to the development of bilateral relations.
