Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng: Some Western Countries Led by the U.S. Have No Right to Talk Democracy and Human Rights with China
Updated: July 10, 2021 10:09

On July 9, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said in an interview on the "China Forum" column of guancha.cn, some Western countries led by the U.S. have no right to talk democracy and human rights with China because of their own deplorable human rights record. In history, they committed genocide against the aboriginal people, and discriminated and persecuted minority groups. Over nearly 100 years after the U.S. was founded, native Indians were expelled and killed during the Westward Expansion. Their population dwindled from 5 million to 250,000, only accounting for 2 percent of the U.S. total. The remains of over 200 children and more than 1,000 unmarked graves were found at the site of a former residential school for indigenous children in Canada. Over 160 years, at least 4,000 children died at the residential schools without clear reason. Until today, people like George Floyd cannot breathe freely, minority groups are suffering from discrimination and the homeless are wandering in the streets. How shameless are such countries to lecture others on human rights in a condescending manner and point fingers? To put it bluntly, they only interfere in other countries' domestic affairs under the disguise of human rights.
