On February 22, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu had a phone conversation with U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley at the latter's request, and the two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the Iranian nuclear issue. Ma Zhaoxu stated China's position and concerns on the Iranian nuclear issue. Both sides said they will remain committed to the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue and stand ready to step up dialogue with other parties to push the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action back to the right track at an early date. The two sides also agreed to stay in communication and coordination on this issue.
