On December 6, 2024, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Long Zhou met with Ambassador of New Zealand to China Grahame Robert Morton at the latter's request. They had an exchange of views on China-New Zealand relations and consular cooperation, among others.

The two sides agreed to further deepen bilateral consular cooperation, enhance the facilitation of personnel exchanges, and contribute to the development of bilateral relations and practical cooperation in various fields.
