Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago Wilfred Morris

On July 11, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago Wilfred Morris, who was in China to attend the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting.

Miao Deyu said that Trinidad and Tobago is an important partner of China in the Caribbean region. In recent years, cooperation between China and Trinidad and Tobago has achieved fruitful results in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries. China is ready to work with the new government of Trinidad and Tobago to enhance exchanges at all levels between the two countries, expand cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, science and technology and other fields, deliver on the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, continuously improve the overall level of China-Caribbean and China-Latin America cooperation, jointly practice the Global Civilization Initiative, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Wilfred Morris said that the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has made unique contributions to maintaining the diversity of civilizations and peaceful development. China upholds justice and fairness in international affairs, bringing hope to a turbulent world. The new government of Trinidad and Tobago attaches great importance to developing relations with China, will continue to firmly abide by the one-China principle, and stands ready to strengthen cooperation with China in economy, trade, emerging technologies, youth, sports and other fields to advance the continuous development of bilateral relations.
