On July 30, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu visited Canada and held consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister of Canada David Morrison. The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China‑Canada relations and international and regional issues of common interest and concern.
Ma Zhaoxu said that China and Canada enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges and share extensive common interests, and the two countries can fully become partners that help each other succeed and achieve common development. China is ready to work with Canada, in the spirit of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Canada as an opportunity to stay committed to the positioning of the strategic partnership, seek the right way to get along with each other, properly handle differences, and promote the improvement and development of China‑Canada relations under the new circumstances.
The two sides agreed to enhance high‑level exchanges and maintain communication and dialogue at all levels, strengthen practical cooperation, continue dialogues and consultations in areas such as economy and trade, consular affairs, and law enforcement, promote people‑to‑people exchanges, and support cultural, educational, and sub‑national exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the China‑Canada Scholars' Exchange Program.
Chinese Ambassador to Canada Wang Di attended the above events.
