Xi Jinping Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Cuba

On September 28, 2025, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out that 65 years ago, Cuba took the lead among countries in the Western Hemisphere in establishing diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, opening a new chapter in China-Cuba relations. Over the past 65 years, China-Cuba relations have continued to deepen, becoming a model of solidarity and cooperation between socialist countries as well as sincerity and mutual assistance among developing countries. President Xi Jinping said that in recent years, he and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez have maintained close communication, guiding the relations between the two Parties and two countries to new heights. President Xi Jinping also recalled that not long ago, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez came to China to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, during which they met again and reached important common understandings on building a closer China-Cuba community with a shared future.

Xi Jinping emphasized that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Cuba relations and is ready to work with President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to take the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as a new starting point to carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen high-level political mutual trust, advance development cooperation in a systematic manner, strengthen all-round strategic coordination, jointly uphold international fairness and justice, and continuously achieve new progress in building a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

In a joint congratulatory message with Cuban revolutionary leader General Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez noted that for more than 60 years, Cuba-China relations have stood the test of time and continued to grow. The two sides enjoy deep political mutual trust, close exchanges on socialist development experience, and ever-stronger traditional brotherhood and friendly cooperation. The Cuban side firmly abides by the one-China principle, opposes external interference in China's internal affairs, and remains committed to advancing the building of a Cuba-China community with a shared future and opposing hegemonism.

On the same day, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council exchanged congratulatory messages with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz. Li Qiang expressed readiness to maintain close communication with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and take the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, continuously translate the high-level political mutual trust into practical cooperation outcomes, and constantly enrich the substance of the China-Cuba community with a shared future. Manuel Marrero Cruz expressed willingness to work with Premier Li Qiang to effectively implement the common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two countries and to deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
