On January 25, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong and Director of the Asian and Pacific Cooperation Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ovchinnikov Alexey Mikhailovich co-chaired a new round of consultation on Asian affairs via video link.

The two sides had a friendly and in-depth exchange of views on the current situation in Asia, each other's regional and national policies, regional cooperation and regional hotspot issues, and reached broad consensus. The two sides agreed that China and Russia should further strengthen strategic communication and coordination on Asian affairs, jointly safeguard regional peace and stability, and promote cooperation and development.
