President Vladimir Putin of Russia Meets with Yang Jiechi

On October 18, 2018 local time, President Vladimir Putin of Russia met in Sochi with Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi, who was there to attend the Valdai annual meeting.

Vladimir Putin asked Yang Jiechi to convey his warm regards to President Xi Jinping, and expressed that the Russian side highly appreciates and sincerely thanks President Xi Jinping's attendance at the Eastern Economic Forum this September. All important consensuses reached at the meeting between the Chinese and Russian heads of state are being implemented. The Russian side speaks highly of the high level of the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination, and is willing to, together with the Chinese side, maintain close exchanges at all levels and deepen practical cooperation in all fields. Facing the complex and ever-changing international situation, Russia and China should further enhance coordination and cooperation to safeguard and promote the common interests of the two countries as well as the global peace and development.

Yang Jiechi conveyed the warm greetings from President Xi Jinping to Vladimir Putin. Yang Jiechi expressed that President Xi Jinping successfully attended the fourth Eastern Economic Forum this September, during which he held a fruitful meeting with Mr. President. They made in-depth exchange of views on the development of China-Russia relations in next stage and the international situation and reached important consensuses. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Russian side, well implement the consensuses reached by the two heads of state in a comprehensive manner, and enhance practical cooperation in such fields as energy, agriculture, high-tech, innovation and at local levels in particular. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic relations. We should meticulously design and well arrange various high-level exchanges and relevant commemorative activities, and take it as an opportunity to promote bilateral relations to score new achievements and to new stages in this important year, so as to better benefit the two peoples as well as people of the world.

Yang Jiechi also extended congratulations on the successful holding of the Valdai annual meeting this time.
