Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Holds Consultation on the Korean Peninsula Issue with the Russian Side

On February 11, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Chinese Government on the Korean Peninsula Affairs Kong Xuanyou and Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov of Russia held consultation on the Korean Peninsula issue in Moscow.

The two sides agreed that the current situation on the Peninsula is continuing to develop along the direction of dialogue and detente. The two sides spoke highly of the commitment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States (US) to resolving the issue through dialogue and hoped that the DPRK and the US could meet each other halfway, respond to each other's concerns and push for the second leaders' meeting to be held smoothly and achieve positive results. Both sides supported the DPRK and the Republic of Korea to improve relations and promote reconciliation and cooperation. The two sides agreed to continue to make joint efforts for the political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue.
