On April 25, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China-Uzbekistan relations are valued in mutual trust and lie in unceasing promotion. Regarding the Uzbek side as an important strategic partner, the Chinese side is willing to forge ahead together with the Uzbek side to achieve common development and prosperity and jointly commit to peace and stability in Central Asia. Uzbekistan was a key intersection of the ancient Silk Road in history, and now is an important participant and builder in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Both sides should align the BRI with the five priorities in the Uzbek side's national development, promote the facilitation of trade, investment and transport, enhance connectivity, expand cooperation in energy and new energy, and deepen people-to-people and cultural, subnational and security exchanges.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and expressed that Uzbekistan sees China as its true friend, and thanks China for its valuable support. I cherish my profound friendship with President Xi Jinping and highly appreciate the important and positive role China has played internationally under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. The Uzbek side fully supports the joint construction of the BRI, and stands ready to vigorously promote the synergy between the Central Asian region and the BRI, elevate the level of trade, investment and cross-border transport, and deepen security cooperation. The Uzbek side firmly supports the fight against the "three forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with the Chinese side on regional affairs.

Ding Xuexiang, Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi and He Lifeng attended the meeting.
