On May 20, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin Aslov of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance and personal promotion of the two heads of state, China and Tajikistan have become good neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, good friends with sincerity and mutual trust, good partners of win-win cooperation, and good brothers who support each other. The relations between the two countries have ushered in the best period in history. China and Tajikistan should take the high-level exchanges between the two countries in the next stage as an opportunity to elevate bilateral relations to new highs. Both countries should take the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as the main line, strengthen the synergy between the development strategies, and commit to building a China-Tajikistan community of shared development. The two countries should take the opportunity of jointly combating the "three forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and transnational organized crime, commit to building a China-Tajikistan community of shared security so as to move toward the goal of building a community with a shared future between the two countries.
Wang Yi said that the Chinese side attaches great importance to the development of relations with Tajikistan, and will, as always, firmly support Tajikistan in following the development path it has independently chosen, and support President Emomali Rahmon's efforts to maintain national stability and improve people's livelihood. The Chinese side is willing to further align the Belt and Road Initiative with the national development strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, give priority to helping the Tajik side implement the four major development strategies of energy, transportation, agriculture and industrialization, carry out more large-scale cooperation projects featuring mutual benefit and win-win results, and further enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as security cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination on international and regional affairs with Tajikistan under the frameworks including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and actively support the Tajik side in well hosting the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in June.
Sirojiddin Mukhriddin Aslov said that Tajikistan attaches great importance to its relations with China and regards China as a sincere and reliable good friend and partner. With the promotion of the two heads of state, Tajikistan-China comprehensive strategic partnership has reached an unprecedented high level in recent years. The Tajik side highly recognizes the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to work with the Chinese side to explore the construction of a community with a shared future between the two countries so as to make efforts and contributions to the realization of this great goal. The Tajik side fully supports the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and warmly congratulates the Chinese side on the successful convening of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The Tajik side is satisfied with the results of cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, production capacity, and infrastructure construction between Tajikistan and China under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and expects the two sides to strengthen the synergy between the development strategies, carry out more important projects, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results in the future. The Tajik side thanks China for its assistance to the development and construction of Tajikistan, and hopes that more Chinese enterprises will invest and start business in Tajikistan to further deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in education, youth, tourism, and other fields. The Tajik side appreciates the Chinese side for supporting Tajikistan in hosting the CICA in June, and is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation with the Chinese side to jointly combat the "three forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, and safeguard the security of the two countries and the region.
