On November 25, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng told the press in Moscow that the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline, known as another "project of the century" of China-Russia cooperation will be put into operation in early December. President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin have always cared and promoted the project. The pipeline will bring as much as 38 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas to China every year, with a total price exceeding 400 billion US dollars. As the first land natural gas cross-border strategic thoroughfare in northeast China, it will further boost bilateral practical cooperation. It is another significant outcome for the two sides to complement each other's strengths and pursue common rejuvenation, and also a great gift for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
Le Yucheng stressed, in addition to the east-route natural gas pipeline, the Heihe-Blagoveshchensk cross-border highway bridge and the Tongjiang-Nizhneleninskoye cross-border railway bridge have been successively joined, ending the history of no bridge across China-Russia boundary river. Together with the China-Russia east-route crude oil pipeline that has been put into operation, a new pattern of "two bridges and pipelines" of China-Russia connectivity is taking shape, writing a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win results.
