On June 11, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng and Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev of Turkmenistan held video consultation between the Chinese and Turkmen Foreign Ministries. Both sides had a full exchange of views on bilateral relations, high-level exchanges, practical cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern.

Le Yucheng said, the Chinese side sees Turkmenistan as a sincere friend, reliable partner and close brother. No matter how the international landscape evolves, China's policy of developing friendly cooperation with Turkmenistan will remain unchanged. In a context of routine COVID-19 response arrangements, both sides need to broaden minds, step up integration of development strategies, intensify bilateral exchanges at all levels, and focus on the post-pandemic era. The two countries also need to make innovation in cooperation concepts, and make early arrangements for bilateral cooperation in energy, economy and trade, transportation, high-tech and medical and health care, so as to push China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership for new and greater development.

Vepa Hajiyev noted, the Turkmen side speaks highly of the major achievements the Chinese government and people have made in COVID-19 response. Attaching importance to its relations with China, the Turkmen side is prepared to promote the integration between the "Revival of the Great Silk Road" and the Belt and Road Initiative, and take it as an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral all-round and mutually beneficial cooperation to ensure the sound and stable development of Turkmenistan-China relations.
