On December 3, 2020, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov. Both sides exchanged views on the China-Russia relations, bilateral counter-terrorism and security cooperation and regional situations.
Cheng Guoping said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era has become stronger and closer than ever before, setting a new model of major-country relations. At present, under the strong internal driving force of the bilateral ties, both China and Russia are playing pivotal roles in this ever-changing world. China stands ready to work with Russia to strengthen strategic coordination in the fields of counter-terrorism and security, jointly overcome all forms of security threats, and safeguard security and stability of the two countries and the world at large.
Denisov said that when the COVID-19 pandemic is ravaging around the globe, Russian and Chinese leaders have made frequent exchanges via video link or over phone at bilateral and multilateral occasions, to push forward the bilateral relations. Both sides need to join hands to deepen counter-terrorism and security cooperation, enhance policy coordination and collaboration, and overcome the global and regional security challenges faced by both countries.
