Wang Yi Meets with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov

On July 16, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in Tianjin.

Wang Yi said that during the second China-Central Asia Summit, President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a cordial and friendly meeting, which deepened mutual trust and friendship between the two heads of state and made strategic plans for the development of China-Uzbekistan relations. The Chinese side is ready to work with Uzbekistan to fully implement the common understandings between the leaders, prepare for the next stage of high-level exchanges, and promote higher-quality and higher-level development of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi said that China is a trustworthy and reliable partner for Uzbekistan, always regards Uzbekistan as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, and supports Uzbekistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty, security, and development interests. Both sides should accelerate cooperation in key areas, promote the early operation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and create more new achievements in bilateral cooperation. China looks forward to working with Uzbekistan and other member states to ensure the complete success of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin and inject stronger momentum into the organization's development.

Bakhtiyor Saidov stated that the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and China have a long history. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has made historic achievements in its development and is accelerating the realization of the Chinese Dream. Uzbekistan deeply admires this and is willing to learn from and draw upon China's development experience. Led by the two heads of state, the two countries have elevated their relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era, with fruitful pragmatic cooperation across various fields. Uzbekistan is willing to further expand cooperation with China in such areas as logistics, mineral resources, artificial intelligence, green transition, and desertification control, strengthen communication and coordination on regional and international affairs, safeguard their common interests, and elevate Uzbekistan-China relations to a new level. The recently concluded Meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council achieved positive results. Uzbekistan will, as always, fully support and assist China in successfully hosting the Tianjin summit.
