
On January 22, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin held consultations on China-Russia relations and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) affairs with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rudenko Andrey Yurevich in Beijing.
Both sides unanimously stated that in 2025, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations maintained their momentum of development. The two heads of state met twice, and both sides solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. With strong support from Russia, China successfully hosted the SCO Tianjin Summit and achieved fruitful results. In 2026, the two sides will take the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination as opportunities to take China-Russia relations to new heights and achieve new progress in the SCO's development.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on other international and regional issues of mutual concern.
