Chinese and French Foreign Ministries Hold the 13th Round of Consultation on African Affairs

On October 24, 2019, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Dai Bing and Rémi Maréchaux, Director for Africa and Indian Ocean at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, co-chaired the 13th round of China-France consultation on African affairs in Beijing. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on respective policies and cooperation with Africa, situation in Africa and major hotspot issues in Africa.

Dai Bing briefed on the implementation progress of the outcomes of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the latest outcomes of China-Africa cooperation. He elaborated on China's policy towards Africa, saying that both China and France are committed to maintaining world peace and stability, adhere to multilateralism and shoulder common responsibilities in supporting Africa's peace and development. President Emmanuel Macron will pay a visit to China soon. The two sides have strengthened communication and exchanges on African affairs and actively pushed for substantive results in the trilateral cooperation of China, France and Africa, which is conducive to injecting new impetus into China-France relations and making greater contributions to the cause of peace and development in Africa.

Rémi Maréchau expressed, the current international situation is undergoing profound changes. It is necessary for France and China to strengthen exchanges and dialogue on African affairs. President Emmanuel Macron attaches great importance to the African issues. The French side appreciates the Chinese side's constructive role in African affairs and is ready to work with the Chinese side to actively advance Africa-related trilateral cooperation and help African countries achieve security, stability and sustainable development.
