On October 30, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong and Candith Mashego-Dlamini, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, co-chaired the tenth China-South Africa Strategic Dialogue and the sixth session of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee of China-South Africa Bi-National Commission on foreign affairs in Beijing. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on China-South Africa relations, China-Africa relations, preparations for the seventh plenary meeting of the China-South Africa Bi-National Commission and international and regional issues of common concern.

Both sides shared the view that China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership maintains a sound development momentum. President Xi Jinping and President Cyril Ramaphosa have met many times and reached important consensus, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. Our two countries see frequent high-level exchanges, increasingly enhanced political mutual trust, and fruitful outcomes in exchanges and cooperation in areas including economy, trade and people-to-people and cultural engagement, as well as maintain intensified coordination in international affairs.

With full of confidence of the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, both sides said they are willing to, under the guidance of the two heads of state, further strengthen strategic communication and cooperation under such bilateral and multilateral mechanisms as China-South Africa Bi-National Commission, Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS. Efforts should be made to constantly elevate bilateral cooperation on all fronts, so as to make more contributions to enhancing the well-being of the two peoples and safeguarding peace, stability and development of Africa and the world.
