Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Dai Bing Meets with Director of the African Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Abebe Aemro Selassie

On October 31, 2019, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Dai Bing met with Director of the African Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Abebe Aemro Selassie. Dai Bing briefed on the implementation progress of the follow-up actions of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and the outcomes of the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Africa. He said, the Chinese side honors its promises to carry out highly efficient cooperation with fruitful results with Africa, advance investment and financing cooperation in a responsible manner, and promote the transformation and upgrading of China-Africa cooperation. China is willing to make joint efforts with various parties including the IMF to support Africa in realizing industrialization and economic diversification.

Speaking positively of the results of China-Africa cooperation, Abebe Aemro Selassie said, the international community is increasing its attention to and input in Africa, and China-Africa cooperation and China's development experience are of great significance for Africa's development. The African debt issue is not caused by China. The IMF stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Chinese side to jointly promote economic and social development in Africa.
