On November 26, 2019, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Dai Bing co-held the third round of political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries with Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Isidore Ntirampeba of Burundi, who was in China for a visit.
Dai Bing spoke highly of China-Burundi relations and stated that under the joint guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Pierre Nkurunziza, China-Burundi relations have entered the best period in history and become a model of equal treatment and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Burundian side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the results of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, enhance friendship and mutual trust, and promote the continuous development of China-Burundi cooperative relations.
Isidore Ntirampeba thanked the Chinese side for its long-standing and firm support for Burundi in safeguarding its national sovereignty and independence, and its valuable support for Burundi's economic and social development. He said that the Burundian side looks forward to further strengthening friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side, supporting each other in international affairs, and constantly improving the bilateral relations.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
