This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Seychelles. The two countries have always treated each other as equals and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, setting a good example of sincere friendship, solidarity, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win outcomes between big and small countries. China firmly supports Seychelles in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and in the governance efforts of the new Seychellois administration. He believes that Seychelles will also continue to support China on issues concerning China's core interests and said we are ready to take the opportunity of Belt and Road cooperation and implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to take our cooperation to a new level and build a community with a shared future between China and Seychelles and between China and Africa in light of the economic and social development needs of Seychelles.

Wang Yi said that China is willing to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Seychelles in the three areas of environmental protection, blue ocean and tourism. China fully understands the urgent desire of small island countries to cope with climate change. The two sides will sign the implementation agreement on the construction of a low-carbon demonstration zone for South-South cooperation. China is also a major maritime country and is ready to deepen cooperation with Seychelles in the fields of marine aquaculture, marine scientific research and shipping transportation. Seychelles is a country built on tourism. China is ready to encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Seychelles after the pandemic is brought under control.

Wang Yi said China is willing to listen to the views of Seychelles, work with African countries to prepare for a new FOCAC session, further synergize development strategies, deepen international cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative, promote Africa's development and revitalization as well as independent and sustainable development, and upgrade China-Africa cooperation. China regards Seychelles as an important member of the international community and stands ready to work with it to uphold multilateralism and international fairness and justice and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.

Wavel Ramkalawan warmly welcomed Wang Yi's visit to Seychelles, saying that it shows China's support for Seychelles's fight against the pandemic. Wavel Ramkalawan asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He stressed the traditional friendship between the two countries by saying that China was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Seychelles. He thanked China for its long-term and valuable support for Seychelles's economic and social development, and for batches of anti-pandemic materials provided by China to Seychelles during the outbreak in particular, which played an important role in Seychelles's fight against the pandemic. He said he himself would like to take the lead in receiving the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine. Seychelles regards China as an important cooperative partner and fully agrees with the proposal of practical cooperation put forward by China, which well meets the needs of Seychelles. Seychelles will continue to adhere to the one-China principle, understand and support China's legitimate position, strengthen coordination with China in international affairs and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, especially small and medium-sized countries.
