Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Du Xiaohui Visits the Republic of the Congo

From November 5 to 6, 2024, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and Secretary-General of the Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Du Xiaohui visited the Republic of the Congo, during which he paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso and met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Claude Gakosso and Minister of International Cooperation Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, respectively. Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo Li Yan attended relevant activities.

Du Xiaohui once again congratulated the Republic of Congo on assuming the African co-chair of FOCAC and said that China is ready to work with the Republic of the Congo to implement the important common understandings reached between President Xi Jinping and President Denis Sassou Nguesso and the outcomes of the summit, build a high-level community with a shared future between China and the Republic of the Congo and push for greater development of China-Africa relations.

President Denis Sassou Nguesso spoke highly of bilateral relations and thanked China for supporting the development of the Republic of the Congo and assuming the co-chair of FOCAC. The Republic of the Congo reiterated its commitment to the one-China principle and is willing to give full play to the role of the co-chair to promote the implementation of the common understandings reached between the heads of state and the outcomes of the summit in both the Republic of the Congo and Africa.

During the visit, Du Xiaohui gave an interview to the media of the Republic of the Congo, held talks with major Chinese enterprises in the country and visited projects.
