On April 23, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei met with a delegation led by Director-General of the Counter-Terrorism Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Walid Elfiky, who came to China for China-Egypt counter-terrorism consultations. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as counter-terrorism and security cooperation between the two countries, among other issues.
