On June 10, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of External Relations of Angola Téte António in Changsha.
Wang Yi said that last autumn, President Xi Jinping announced the ten partnership actions to support Africa's revitalization at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, this initiative has already yielded notable early results. At present, unilateralism and protectionism are making a comeback, free trade and international rules are suffering serious setbacks, and developing countries are facing severe challenges. China firmly stands with the Global South, especially African countries, to jointly uphold the multilateral trading system and safeguard international fairness and justice. China will continue to support Angola in fulfilling its responsibilities as the rotating chair of the African Union (AU).
Wang Yi said that China and Angola enjoy a time-honored friendship that is worthy to be cherished and upheld. China's policy toward Angola remains consistent and stable, and China's assistance to Angola comes with no political strings attached. Practice has proven and will continue to prove that China is a reliable and trustworthy friend and partner of Angola. China supports Angola's efforts to advance national development and is ready to share China's development opportunities with Angola, expand cooperation in various fields such as agricultural modernization, healthcare, and human resources training, and support Angola in accelerating its industrialization process. China encourages and supports more Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Angola and hopes that Angola will safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and personnel in the country.
Téte António said that Hunan is the birthplace of Chairman Mao Zedong, the founding leader of the People's Republic of China. Many African people came to learn about Hunan through him, which has facilitated mutually beneficial cooperation with Hunan. Angola and China share a profound traditional friendship and have close ties. Upholding a spirit of solidarity, both sides have made fruitful progress in bilateral relations, and friendship with China has become a consensus among all sectors in Angola. Angola firmly abides by the one-China principle and looks forward to strengthening exchanges at all levels with China and further deepening cooperation in various fields. He expressed gratitude to the hundreds of Chinese enterprises for their contributions to Angola's development and infrastructure construction, and welcomed more Chinese investment. The FOCAC mechanism is becoming increasingly mature, and Angola looks forward to working with China to implement the outcomes of the summit. Angola supports the series of important global initiatives proposed by China and is willing to enhance multilateral coordination with China, fulfill its responsibilities as the AU rotating chair, correct historical injustice, and uphold fairness and justice.
