On November 6, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Ambassador of Zambia to China Ivan Zyuulu and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of South Africa in China Mogamat Mahdi Basadien. They had in-depth exchanges of views on China-Zambia and China-South Africa relations, as well as issues of common concern.
Miao Deyu said that Zambia and South Africa are important partners of China in Africa. China is ready to further enhance political mutual trust with Zambia and South Africa through high-level exchanges in the next stage and accelerate the implementation of the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. China supports South Africa in fulfilling its role as the rotating chair of the G20 and looks forward to the complete success of the upcoming Johannesburg Summit. The fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, clearly stating that China will move faster to foster a new pattern of development that aims to promote domestic and international circulations and further expand high-standard opening up. This will create more opportunities for cooperation between China and Zambia, between China and South Africa, as well as between China and Africa.
The diplomatic envoys of the two countries appreciated the development of Zambia-China and South Africa-China relations and the fruitful outcomes of Africa-China cooperation since the Beijing Summit. They highly praised the smooth convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the grand blueprint it outlined for China's future development. They expressed their willingness to further strengthen high-level exchanges with China, expand practical cooperation, and promote greater development of bilateral relations.
