
On April 3, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Mozambican Communities Abroad Maria de Fátima Simão Manso.
Miao Deyu stated that China and Mozambique are good brothers who share weal and woe and stand together through thick and thin. The two sides have always adhered to mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, and firmly supported each other on issues involving each other’s core interests. In June 2025, President Xi Jinping and President Daniel Francisco Chapo exchanged congratulatory messages on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, agreeing to jointly write a new chapter in China-Mozambique relations. China stands ready to work with Mozambique to continuously deepen political mutual trust, promote all-round practical cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in international and multilateral affairs, and make greater contributions to promoting Global South solidarity and cooperation and advancing the reform and improvement of global governance.
Maria de Fátima Simão Manso stated that Mozambique cherishes the Mozambique-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and firmly adheres to the one-China principle. Maria de Fátima Simão Manso expressed gratitude for the valuable support China has long provided for Mozambique’s economic and social development and looks forward to close high-level exchanges with China to deepen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. Mozambique supports the major international initiatives and propositions put forward by China and stands ready to work with China to uphold and practice true multilateralism.
