Mr. Chairman,

The Chinese delegation voted in favor of the draft resolution"Measures to promote transparency and confidence-building in outer space"(L.30/Rev.1).

Outer space is the common heritage of all mankind. For years, the international community has made unremitting efforts on preventing the weaponization of and an arms race in outer space. The draft resolution sponsored by the Russian delegation is conducive to attracting more attention from all sides on the issue of outer space. We appreciate and support such efforts. At the same time, we are of the view the fundamental way to prevent the weaponization of and an arms race in outer space is to negotiate and conclude relevant legal instruments. Our work on promoting transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space should focus on this objective.
