On the late night of Nov. 23, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi accepted interviews by the Xinhua News Agency, the China Central Television and other media, during his attendance at the dialogue between the P5+1 and Iran in Geneva.
Wang Yi said that although it was not long after I arrived in Geneva at noon today, I had met with foreign ministers from Russia, France, Britain, Iran and other countries, and attended two foreign ministers' general conferences. With joint efforts by all parties, at present, various parties have reached an agreement, or consensus, on most of the first-step agreement on Iran's nuclear program, and there are two to three issues that continue under discussion.
Wang Yi said that it's past midnight now, and I'm afraid today is another sleepless night. There are two possible prospects, one is that everyone makes the last effort again to solve these remaining problems, so after ten years of negotiations, we can take an important step here towards the settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue through political means. But, it does not rule out that all parties end up failing to reach enough consensus to solve the remaining issues tomorrow, due to time constraint. But, we have to see that the current progress is worth cherishing.
Wang Yi said that the Chinese team is conducting close communications and contacts with other parties, night and day, hoping to reach and sign the agreement here. We will continue to make efforts in this regard.
