2024 National Data Center Workshop Opens in Beijing

On October 21, 2024, the 2024 National Data Center Workshop co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) opened in Beijing. Nearly 100 experts from more than 60 countries attended the workshop and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the research and application of international nuclear-test-ban monitoring and verification technology as well as the development of national data centers. Director-General of the Department of Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Sun Xiaobo and Executive Secretary of the PTS of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission Robert Floyd attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

On the same day, Sun Xiaobo met with Executive Secretary of the PTS of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission Robert Floyd. The two sides had an exchange of views on bilateral cooperation and the certification of the monitoring stations in China.

China is one of the first countries to sign the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). It has consistently supported the purposes and objectives of the CTBT, honored the commitment of a "moratorium on nuclear tests", and has supported all countries, especially developing nations, in strengthening their capacity-building for implementing the CTBT.
