Mr. Chairman,
The situation at the moment on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia is still complicated and sensitive. While the Six-Party Talks remains stalled, the recent emergence of DPRK's uranium enrichment issue has caused widespread concern in the international community. China has suggested an emergency consultation among heads of delegation to the Six-Party Talks in Beijing in early December.
It is China's view that under current situations all relevant parties should keep their eyes on the overarching objective of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and peace and stability in Northeast Asia, and must remain calm and restrained. They should do more to help ease the situation and contribute to maintaining peace and stability on the Peninsula and in the region. The Six-Party Talks plays an important role in easing tensions among relevant parties, advancing denuclearization process on the Korean Peninsula, and maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia. What is imperative at the moment is to resume the Six-Party Talks and bring the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsular back to the track of dialogue and consultation. By doing so, we can not only keep the situation under control, but also seek proper solutions to the concerns of relevant parties within the framework talks, with a view to searching for the eventual solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
China will continue to work with the relevant parties and the international community and play a constructive role in realizing the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and maintaining peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
